The OST for Isles and Tiles is a delightfully whimsical collection of duets for clarinet and harp, written by harpist Tamsin Dearnley, and brought to life by the wonderful combination of her own playing with that of with Canadian clarinettist John David Williams.
The music itself draws influence from the hypnotic Breton folk tradition and the proto jazz of bal-folk, resulting in a unique style that sounds exactly like the music of a place that doesn’t-quite-exist - or perhaps one that has long since vanished to await its resurrection from the waves…!
With the perfect mixture of slow, meditative tunes that echo the rise and fall of the waves, and faster melodies for dancing on the beach, what better music could there to build your own magical island to - and perhaps enjoy a glass (or three) of local wine with as you survey the fruits of your labour…?
